Plyometrics is a popular word for all types of jumps, and explosive exercises. Its use is so pervasive that it is even possible to find push-ups described as being plyometric. At least we can say that plyometric exercises require explosive strength and they are the opposite from isometric exercises, which involve the hold of a static position.
